Stables Garage 2024 Brisca V8 Hotstox British Championship!
The Brisca V8 Hotstox will return to Odsal stadium for an evening of fast and furious action when the drivers compete for the 2024 British Championship!
The 29th June will be the second time that the title will be competed for at Bradford since racing returned to the venue, the British championship was also raced for at Odsal in 2022. It was a superb evening of racing in front of a huge crowd at the impressive arena. A rather unfortunate downpour just as the Hotstox drivers entered the track for their pre meeting grand parade meant that many started the meeting in rather wet race suits!
The heats were dominated by then defending champion Steve Thompson and Jon Brown (#288). Pre meeting favourite Kev Stuchbury had his meeting cut short due to issues with the half shaft. An intriguing game of cat and mouse broke out between Thompson and Brown over the three qualifying heats. In contrast to his usual driving style, Brown was cautious when using the bumper on Thompson and settled for second place to the then world champion in all three heats.
Thompson and Brown lined up for the British Championship race on the front row and the anticipation amongst the crowd was that Brown would be more eager with the front bumper in the race. Brown did not disappoint! Unfortunately for Brown his attempt to gain the lead of the race ended with a hard collision with the turns 1 and 2 barrier and a puncture. Thompson was able to lead the remaining laps and was crowned the 2022 British champion. Brown will be looking for a far better result on 29th June. Be sure to watch the #288 car closely…. Jon is likely to either win the main event or finish it hanging from a fence post…
The current British champion is teenage superstar Thomas Brighton who is also the current World Champion of the Hotstox. Brighton won his British championship in 2023 on the tarmac of the high speed Hednesford oval. Thomas will be looking to retain his title at Bradford but there is plenty of competition amongst the ranks of the Hotstox formula.
Timmy Aldridge (#257) is the current European champion and is one of the hardest hitters in the formula. Timmy is an experienced oval racer, having competed in the Brisca F1 stock cars and banger racing. Much like Jon Brown, Timmy will have absolutely no interest in anything other than taking the British title on June 29th. Jamie Rodgers (#71) had a highly successful evening at the formula’s most recent shale meeting at Mildenhall and his stunning new shale car must be seen in the flesh to be truly appreciated. Jamie could be a contender for the British Championship.
Popular lower grader Dannie Schoales (#137) should make her 2024 debut at Bradford. Dannie is a true budget racer and is never afraid to get stuck into the action. Dannie will be joined on track by fellow lady racers Gracie Squire (#29) and Amy Jagger (#525) as the drivers battle it out for the Stables Garage 2024 Brisca V8 Hotstox British Championship!
